The research of the group is focussed on the development of novel methods for protein- and proteome analytics (identification, quantification, posttranslational modifications, mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography) and the application of these methods on biomedical projects within the Cluster of Excellence „Inflammation@Interfaces“.

The project will deal with the development of novel LC-MS based methods for protein quantification, the analysis of posttranslational modifications and the identification of proteins in complex biological mixtures. The biological problem is situated in the context of studies aiming for a deeper understanding of interactions between microorganisms and human cells (incl. Bacterial metaproteomics).

The candidate should have a strong (!!) background in the field of biologically oriented mass spectrometry (MALDI and/or ESI MS). Basic knowledge in at least two of the fields: protein analytics, proteomics, chromatography or bioinformatics are necessary.

Applicants are expected to be highly motivated, reliable and interested to work in an interdisciplinary environment in a young team. Participation in the preparation of an application for an external research grant aiming for prolonging the project is expected.

The position is immediately available, funding is guaranteed for 21 months. Prolonging of the contract over this time is strongly envisaged. Funding is based on German TV-L E13.

Women are especially encouraged to apply. Handicapped people will be preferentially considered in case of equivalent qualifications.
