The scientific background of the project, which is funded by the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research, focuses on approaches to modulate plaque stability and on novel aspects of vascular signaling in mice.

The PhD student will join the Biomed First graduate school of Frankfurt University as well as the integrated programs of the collaborative research centers of the faculty of medicine.
Salary is in accordance with the German state public service salary scale (TV-G-U E13/2).

We are searching for a highly motivated candidate who has a strong interest in the function and dynamic structural aspects of the cardiovascular system in animal models as well as computational analyses. Candidates are expected to hold a master in science or diploma in any of the following specialties: biology, pharmacology, physiology, biochemistry, medicine, veterinarian medicine or bio-informatics.

We offer a highly interesting, up to date research topic in an internationally renowned research team comprised of the members of the Vascular Research Centre Frankfurt (www.vrc.uni-frankfurt.de) and the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration (www.cardiovascular-regeneration.com) of the medical faculty of the Goethe-University. The institutes belong to the DFG excellence cluster “Cardiopulmonary Systems ECCPS” (www.eccps.de), host the DFG Sonderforschungsbereich 834 “Endothelial Signaling and Vascular Repair” (www.sfb834.de), and are based in a new research building equipped with state of the art equipment from integrative physiology to mass-spectroscopy.
The centre contains laboratory and office space with modern infrastructure facilities and will also house many internationally recognized experts in the field. Such a concentration of relevant expertise and funding provides excellent research facilities and a highly stimulating environment.

As the position is within an international group the candidate should be fluent in English.
