In the section of the joint and connective tissue biochemistry of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University Hospital of Ulm, the site of a / a PhD / in (Dr. biol. Hum., 50% E13 TVL) to occupy.
The PhD position is to be awarded as part of a new interdisciplinary DFG project, which is being worked out in close cooperation with the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Ulm (Prof. Dr. Paul Ziemann). Based on the joint preparation to be examined in the project, such as human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and osteoblasts by interacting with different nanoscale patterned surfaces are influenced in their behavior and what biological mechanisms are involved in this case. The project should therefore help optimize cellular processes in the area of "Nanobiointerface" of implant materials. Methodology includes the thesis, a wide range of modern cell and molecular biology and morphological techniques (including fluorescence microscopy, live-cell imaging and electron microscopy).

We are conducting a / n Ph.D. student / in with a degree in biology, biochemistry or molecular medicine, determination and the ability to work independently in a team. The / Candidates / should have in experimental knowledge of cell and molecular biology techniques.

If you are interested in the current biomedical science subject and a PhD in a highly motivated multidisciplinary team, please submit your application to:
