PhD fellowship (Wurzburg, Germany)

Steroid hormones and cancer immunity – learning from adrenocortical carcinoma
A PhD fellowships for 3.5 years is available starting September 1st 2017 at the Endocrine Unit (Dept. of Internal Medicine I) of the University Hospital of Würzburg to join a collaborative project focusing on anti-tumoural immune response and its possible interplay with steroid hormone secretion in tumours of the adrenal gland. Funding is provided by the German Research Foundation (DFG) within the Collaborative Research Centre CRC/SFB Transregio 205 „The Adrenal: Central Relay in Health and Disease“.
The successful candidate will utilize bioinformatics tools to analyse MALDI mass spectrometry imaging and genetic data in order to phenotypically define tumours belonging to both subgroups. Imaging of gene expression will be performed by immunohistochemistry and RNAScope®. Biochemical assays and immunologic tools will be applied to cell lines and primary tumour cells.
Applicants should preferably have a background in immunology/tumour immunology. Applications are invited from all nationalities, with a Master's degree (or Diploma) in a relevant area.
