PhD student- Cellular Aspects of Pathogen Host Interactions_Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (Langen (Germany))

A position is to be filled in Unit Temporary Research Group 3 "Cellular Aspects of Pathogen Host Interactions" of Division Temporary Research Groups as soon as possible. The job details are as follows: PhD student; Closing date: 03.10.2017 / Pay band: up to E13 TVĂśD / Job reference: 215

The group focuses on the interaction between viruses and innate immunity. We aim to identify new host factors involved in sensing and restricting viruses. We are employing a series of systems-based approaches on a global level, e.g. whole-genome or focused siRNA screenings. Key responsibilities
The PhD student will work on a challenging project at the frontier of the current research. The project will integrate both large-scale technologies (RNAi) and more traditional cell & molecular biology and biochemistry approaches. It will involve conducting viral infection experiments (HIV, HBV) in biological containment facility S3 and with Primary cells as well with state of the art equipment for high-throughput automation and liquid handling.

The position is limited to 3 years. The standard working week is 19,5 hours.
