SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

The Role of Met Tyrosine Kinase Signaling in Dendritic Cells for Regulation of Cell Motility, Migration, and Immune Response

The Institute for Biomedical Engineering, Department of Cell Biology, University Clinic RWTH Aachen, Germany is currently seeking for a student with a Master/Diploma degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Biotechnology or related life sciences to fill an open

PhD student position

The position is offered as a temporary contract for 2 years with the option for extension and opens the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.

The project relates to the research on development and function of antigen-presenting dendritic cells (DCs) and their possible application for immunotherapy. DCs are critically involved in inflammatory diseases e.g. in the skin (psoriasis, eczema or contact dermatitis). In our previous studies, we have identified an essential function of the HGF receptor/Met-signaling pathway in DCs for their emigration from skin. In this DFG-funded project the impact of the Met receptor tyrosine kinase pathway in DCs on the regulation of cell motility, migration and immune response will be examined in more detail.

We are looking for highly motivated and ambitious PhD student with a  background in cell biology. Knowledge in the field of immunology and particularly in DC biology and/or experience within the range of methods would be appreciated. The ability to work independently while being a team player, an outstanding commitment to succeed in research and a high level of English language skills are prerequisites.
