SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

Postdoctoral position (Halle)

Leibniz-Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) invites applications for a

Postdoctoral position

Our group aims to understand fundamental principles of plant development; in part by taking an Evo-devo perspective. In a collaborative DFG-funded project between the Quint (plant development@IPB Halle) and Grosse (bioinformatics@MLU Halle) labs we are seeking a highly talented and independent Postdoctoral Scientist. Based on our previous work (Quint et al., Nature 490, 98-101, 2012; Drost et al., Mol Biol Evol, 2015, in press), the successful applicant will be responsible for the biological part of the project. To address the classic developmental hourglass hypothesis, she/he will perform comparative embryology in the Quint lab for Arabidopsis and two related species. This includes microscopic analysis, dissection of embryos for RNA-Seq analyses, in situ hybridizations, phylotranscriptomic analysis in close collaboration with bioinformaticians, and functional analyses in planta. Optionally, the candidate has the possibility to get specific training in collaborating internat!
 ional lab(s).

Candidates should have a demonstrated record of achievement in academia, and an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary and international team. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, or a related subject and have good proficiency in English. Experience in developmental biology is a plus. We offer a stimulating scientific environment in a lab with state of the art equipment, as well as an international and collaborative research team.

The position is a fully funded two-year appointment starting as soon as possible with a contract according to the German Public Sector Agreement (TV-L; E13). Applicants should provide a CV, including the names and contact details of two or more referees, and a cover letter of no more than one page addressing the selection criteria and motivation before 28 of February, 2015. Please email your full application (cover letter, CV, publication list, transcripts, and names of contacts of two references) as a single pdf file to:
