Post Doctoral Scientist in Retina and Human Pluripotent Stem Biology (f/m) (Dresden)

Post Doctoral Scientist in Retina and Human Pluripotent Stem Biology (f/m) - registration number CRT0915908

The Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD) is one of the world's leading centers in regenerative medicine and represents an interface between basic research and clinical application. The goal of the CRTD is to explore the self-healing potential of the body and to develop novel regenerative therapies for previously incurable diseases. The main research focus is on hematology and immunology, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, bone and cartilage replacement.

To strengthen our research group we are looking for a

Post Doctoral Scientist in Retina and Human Pluripotent Stem Biology (f/m)

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with a PhD in the field of neuroscience and / or pluripotent stem cell research, who likes to work in a highly collaborative and vibrant research environment. The project involves the generation of retinal organoids from human induced pluripotent stem cells in vitro, generation of reporter lines and refinement of differentiation into specific retinal cell types with the ultimate goal of producing retinal cells for therapy and modelling of retinal degenerative diseases.

The post doctoral scientist will be associated with the CRTD Retina Initiative, a network of PIs working on retinal regeneration and is expected to work in close connection to the newly founded Stem Cell Facility at the CRTD. The contract is initially limited until 31.December 2015 with the possibility of further extension.

The successful candidate should have expertise in cell culture and molecular biology techniques ideally with advanced knowledge in human pluripotent stem cells and genetic engineering.

We offer you:

Being involved in a project of possible future commercial and clinical applications widening your expertise in stem cell biology and developmental genetics
Arranging for flexible working hours to find a balance between work and family life
Using our internal prevention program including courses and fitness in our Carus Vital health center
Taking part in job-oriented educational course in our Carus Akademie
