Post Duration: One year

Post-Doctoral Researcher

This post is funded by a EU Framework 7 grant. The successful candidate will conduct a specified programme of research and research training under the guidance of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to deliver research results and objectives, develop new or advanced research skills and competencies, and to interact in the supervision and mentorship of graduate students, in conjunction with an academic supervisor.

Applications are invited for an experienced synthetic chemist to join the team already working on this EU Framework 7 funded project on oral nanomedicines for peptide/protein like drugs (TRANS-INT). The Post-Doctoral post is for a period of 12 months, on a full-time basis. It is in collaboration with the Centre for Synthesis and Chemical Biology, Conway Institute University College Dublin (UCD) and the post will be based in UCD.

The successful candidate will undertake research to design and synthesise novel cyclodextrins capable of forming nanoparticles and of incorporating peptide/proteins as cargos. As part of the team you will also liaise with scientists at the partnering companies and collaborators within the TRANS-INT consortium.

While the research will mainly involve organic synthesis, collaborations will afford experience in chemistry/biology interactions and physical measurements on colloidal and nanoparticulate systems.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated synthetic chemist with an ability to work to a high standard with a proven track record in publishing papers in peer review journals.. The research requires skills in peptide/protein chemistry. Candidates should possess excellent communication, planning, organising, team working, practical, problem solving, record keeping and computing skills.
