PhD Position in RNA Biology and Posttranscriptional Regulation (Berlin, Germany)

The MDC Berlin-Buch is a biomedical research institute dedicated to interdisciplinary research in the areas of Cardiovascular and Metabolic diseases, Cancer, Function and Dysfunction of Nervous Sys-tem as well as Systems Biology. It is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers, supported by the Federal Government of Germany and the Senate of Berlin.
We offer an innovative working environment at the Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) of the MDC, Berlin-Buch. State-of-the-art high-throughput methods for nucleic acids sequencing and mass spectrometry are established to follow systems approaches.

The candidate will identify RNA-binding proteins and cis-regulatory RNA elements involved in cellular responses to genotoxic stress using approaches described in Hafner et al. (Cell, 2010), Baltz et al. (Mol. Cell., 2012), Schueler et al. (Genome Biol., 2014), and Gregersen et al. (Mol. Cell, 2014). Functional studies will include molecular- and cell-based assays.

Skills: Master's degree or equivalent

Salary: German TVÃķD (Ost), scale (E13) 50% first year, 65% afterwards

Start Date: January 1, 2015

Limitation: The position is available for 36 months
