SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

PhD Position in DNA Repair and Maintenance of Genome Stability (Berlin, Germany)

A PhD position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Michela Di Virgilio (DNA Repair and Maintenance of Genome Stability) within the Cancer Program of the Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin-Buch.

Our laboratory is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that ensure appropriate re-pair of DNA double-strand breaks, one of the most cytotoxic types of DNA damage, and how de-regulation of these processes can lead to cancer and immunodeficiencies (Di Virgilio M. et al., Sci-ence 2013; Callen E. et al., Cell 2013; www.divirgiliolab.com). We use a wide variety of techniques ranging from classic biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology approaches to state-of-the-art pro-teomics and genomics methodologies. The laboratory provides excellent learning and mentorship opportunities, and is English-speaking.

The Max-Delbrück-Center is one of the leading centers for Biomedical Research in Europe. The PhD student will be officially affiliated with the MDC International PhD Program of the Helmholtz Graduate School Molecular Cell Biology (https://www.mdc-berlin.de/808242/en/training/phd_program), and will benefit from an international research environment, interdisciplinary platform for training, access to state-of-the-art core facilities and technology platforms, and on-campus teaching lectures and work-shops for career development.

Highly motivated students with a genuine interest in the laboratory area of research and a solid work ethic are encouraged to apply.

Deadline for applications: November 30th, 2014
