PhD student position in molecular therapy development for heart diseases (Tuebingen, Germany)

A PhD student position is available in the labortary of Dr. Michael Gramlich at the Department of Cardiology of University Hospital of Tuebingen , Germany. To study molecular pathogenesis of dilated cardiomyopathy-heart failure and therapy development. Projects focus on elucidation of maladaptive remodeling process and novel drug intervention of human inherited genetic heart diseases.

The position will develop iPSC-derived human cardiomyocytes and employ multidisciplinary molecular and cellular approaches for functional phenotyping (Gerull et al 2002 Nature Genetics, Gramlich et al 2009 JMCC) and therapeutic interventions like antisense oligoneucleitides and CRISPR genome editing (Gramlich et al 2015 EMBO MOL MED).
Requirements for the position include (1) a master degree in molecular biology or related fields (2) experience in molecular and cellular techniques (3) experience in iPSC cells and differentiation OR genome editing techniques like TALEN or CRISPR. Strong motivation and good work ethic. Fluency in English. Team worker.

The position is available immediately, supported by a grant of the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) and is initially limited to 3 years.
