POST-DOCTORAL POSITION In Brain Tumor Research

General Overview:
We are accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow position based at the newly built Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI MUHC). This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative team-oriented research environment in a world-class facility affiliated with the premiere Canadian University.

The available funded projects involve studies on complex molecular responses to radiation therapy in brain tumours, development and reversal of radiation resistance and discovery of the related biomarkers. The position entails the opportunity to interact with basic and clinical investigators, staff and trainees, access to unique technology platforms, placement within a large collegial, multidisciplinary research community in the modern facility located short distance from and the McGill campus at the heart of the vibrant multicultural centre of Montreal.

Qualifications:
Ambitious, motivated and committed candidates at the post-doctoral level are encouraged to apply. Candidates must hold a recently obtained relevant PhD, MD, or equivalent degree, and be within 3 years of the degree completion. Documented research credentials such as original peer reviewed publications, patents, record of innovation are essential. The successful candidate(s) will use a wide range of approaches including functional genomics, cellular and in vivo imaging, tumour models, clinical data analysis and bioinformatics to investigate the mechanisms of intrinsic tumor radioresistance. A strong background in oncology, molecular biology and familiarity with bioinformatics are essential. Experience in brain tumor models, especially patient-derived xenografts is desirable.

Candidates are expected to have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently, while contributing to the efforts of a larger research team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential. The candidates will be expected to give oral presentation and take part in writing manuscripts, grant proposals, and project reports.

The RI-MUHC in Montreal, Quebec is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre hospital network affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of the McGill University. The RI-MUHC Glen site campus offers an outstanding scientific and patient-oriented research environment with state-of-the-art modern core facilities and specialized technology platforms, including cell imaging, pathogen-free modern animal facility, multimodality animal imaging suite and cutting edge dedicated small animal image-guided radiotherapy system (Precision X-ray irradiator PXi, X-RAD 225Cx) to pursue basic, translational and clinical research programs in cancer radiation therapy.
