SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

Post-Doctoral Position in Cancer Biology (Heidelberg)

Description of duties
Our group is working to determine the molecular mechanisms of centrosome duplication in order to understand how centrosome duplication is controlled so that it happens once and only once per cell cycle. Cancer cells often have aberrant centrosome numbers, and we are investigating the relationship between aberrant centrosome number and the genome instability that is common in cancer cells.
The successful post-doctoral candidate will perform a proteomic screen to identify and characterize substrates and binding partners of the master regulator of centrosome duplication, which is the polo-like kinase Plk4. (Cizmecioglu et al., 2010, JCB 191, 731-9; Puklowski et al., 2011, NCB 13, 1004-9; Bahtz et al. 2012, J Cell Sci 125, 486-96; Zhu et al., 2013, JCB, 200: 773-87; Kratz et al. 2015, Biol Open. 4, 370-377). Modern cell biological techniques including life cell imaging and high resolution confocal laser scanning microscopy as well as biochemical techniques will be used.

Desired qualifications
Applicants should hold a PhD in biology /life sciences with excellent grades, background in cellular and molecular biology and have strong laboratory and analytical skills. Please send your CV, list of publications, copies of certificates, transcript of records from both bachelors and masters studies, your research interests and contact addresses of two referees.
