Postdoc and PhD student positions in Microbiology (Bayreuth/Germany) (Bayreuth)

The Department of Microbiology invites applications for the following
positions in the fields of molecular microbiology and synthetic biology, starting in September 2016 or later:

Postdoc
Depending on qualification and previous experience, the appointment
will be made for an initial period of 24-36 months, with the
possibility of subsequent renewal up to a total of five years.
Applications for shorter periods and from senior scientists
will also be considered.

Doctoral student (Doktorand/in)
Part time (3 years)

The postdoc and student will participate in one of several subprojects
of the project: “SYNTOMAGX: A synthetic biology approach for
magnetization of foreign organisms by genetic engineering and transplantation of bacterial magnetosome biosynthesis” which is
being funded by an ERC Advanced Grant. Further information is

Ideal candidates hold an excellent M. Sc. in Biology, Biochemistry
or a related discipline (for postdoc position: a doctoral degree
in addition). Enthusiasm for experimental research, ability to work in a team and good English skills are expected. Training and prior research experience in microbiology and molecular biology are of decisive advantage.

Our international research group offers an inspiring atmosphere
within an interdisciplinary field of fundamental research in
microbiology.

Salaries will be in accordance with payscale of “Tarifvertrag
für den oeffentlichen Dienst der Laender (TV-L)”.
