SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

PhD student position, Stem Cell Biology (Regensburg)

For a currently granted DFG-project “Molecular evaluation of the BMP2/DLX3 induced osteogenic differentiation in dental follicle cells (DFCs)” a PhD student position (TVLe13, 50%) is available at the Department of Cranio- and Maxillofacial Surgery of the University Hospital Regensburg (Director: Prof. Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. T. E. Reichert)

The precursor cells of the human dental follicle (DFCs) are the genuine precursor cells of the peridontium and differentiate among others in craniofacial osteoblasts. Therefore DFCs are highly considered for cellular therapies in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the future. However, a precise knowledge about the mechanism of the osteogenic differentiation in DFCs is essential for the regeneration of craniofacial bone. In recent years, my group has elucidated molecular mechanisms in more details. Here, a BMP2/DLX3 positive feedback mechanism plays a central role. To continue the project about the regulation of the osteogenic differentiation in DFCs, we seek a highly motivated, creative and talented PhD student who is interested in somatic stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.

Your profile:
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team of scientists and clinicians in a stimulating research environment within our cell culture laboratory. As successful candidate you have a Master degree (or Diploma) in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline. We expect a strong motivation and a full commitment in driving research at an international competitive level. Experiences in (molecular) cell biology techniques are indispensable.

For the submission of the application are required:
•       Cover letter
•       CV including personal statements on previous scientific research, achievements, technical know-how and copies of your academic degrees
•       Contact details of two References and/or two letters of recommendation

Please send your application via email to project leader Privatdozent Dr. rer. nat. Christian Morsczeck (Christian.Morsczeck@ukr.de)
