Postdoctoral Position (Postdoc) in Cancer Biology & Proteomics: Vancouver, Canada

The Research Group of Professor Philipp Lange, Canada Research Chair in Translational Proteomics of Pediatric Malignancies at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, is seeking a highly talented, creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow to join his team.

We are a team of experimental and computational scientists interested in post-translational protein modification in pediatric cancer. Our goal is to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to detect and treat children suffering from cancer earlier, better and with reduced impact on their life. To move towards this goal, we specialize in quantitative mass spectrometry based proteomics, cell models and bioinformatics. Working closely with pediatric oncologists gives us immediate access to primary patient biopsies. This enables us to drive projects from patients to cell and animal models all the way to personalized treatment and clinical trials.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop his/her own research project and take the lead in a Canadian Cancer Society funded project focused on the identification of highly specific surface epitopes in leukemia and brain cancers. Collaborations with the Centre for Drug Research and Discovery and the SU2C – Pediatric Dream Team allow us to develop antibodies and/or CAR-T cells for candidate targets.

In addition to state-of-the-art cell-biology and biochemistry lab space, the lab is fully equipped for advanced proteomics including a nano-LC coupled Orbitrap Q-Exactive HF (Thermo) mass spectrometer. Additional systems incl. Orbitrap Fusion and TripleTOF 5600+ are available as well.

We are seeking a candidate with a recent PhD (less than 2 years) and demonstrated expertise in cancer biology / proteomics. Expertise in isolation of cell surface-proteins, proteomics, antibody/CAR-T development and/or bioinformatics are considered an asset. The successful candidate will have a strong publication record in high-impact journals, will be fluent in written and spoken English and have exceptional analytical skills.
