Postdoctoral Positions in Cellular Neuroscience and Neurogenetics/Bioinformatics at Mayo Clinic Florida : Jacksonville, FL, United States

The Rademakers Laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience at the Mayo Clinic Florida in Jacksonville, FL, USA, seeks applications from qualified candidates to complement our established neurogenetics research team. Multiple postdoctoral positions are available with specific needs in the areas of bioinformatics, cell biology and human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology. Our laboratory aims to provide new insights into disease pathogenesis and to identify novel targets for therapy through the discovery and subsequent study of novel disease genes implicated in early-onset dementia’s including Alzheimer’s disease (AD), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and related disorders.

Successful candidates must be creative and must have the ability to find and apply innovative methods to biological questions. Individuals with a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. are eligible to apply. Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. They must have experience in two or more of the following areas: molecular biology, cell biology, human stem-cell biology, genome-editing, molecular genetics, genomics, computational biology/bioinformatics including the analysis of large next-generation sequencing datasets, and neuroscience. A solid knowledge of the neurobiology of relevant CNS disorders, such as AD, FTLD and/or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis will be considered a significant plus.

Mayo Clinic Jacksonville is one of the leading research establishments in neurodegenerative disorders in North America. The Rademakers Laboratory and adjacent Mayo research laboratories are well funded and well equipped. The campus and laboratories are located in sparse pine woodlands, a few minutes from the ocean and the intercoastal waterway of northern Florida.
