The center of advanced european studies and research (caesar) is an Institute of the Max Planck Society dedicated to the Neurosciences, Cell Biology, and Biophysics.

The recently established Max-Planck Research Fellow Group "Chemical Biology" studies signaling processes by cell surface receptors. In particular we aim to elucidate in molecular detail a recently discovered mechanism of receptor tyrosin kinase activation by proteins from the cytoplasmic side. For the project

"Mechanism of EGF receptor activation by cytohesins"

we are offering a

Ph.D. position

(biochemist, biophysicist, or molecular biologist).

The student will be in contact with a wide spectrum of experimental techniques like: protein crystallization, crystal structure analysis, NMR spectroscopy of protein-ligand complexes, isothermal titration calorimetry, microscale thermophoresis, surface plasmon resonance, and other biophysical techniques. The project will be under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M. Famulok, Dr. A. Schmitz, and Dr. M. Geyer.

You will work in a dynamic and motivated team embedded in the scientific community of the Max Planck Society and the University of Bonn. Caesar offers a family friendly and international atmosphere, and supports individual development with a set of trainings and seminars. Caesar provides a very modern infrastructure in an attractive building located in the park of the Rheinaue.

Highly qualified and motivated candidates all over the world that hold excellent diploma or master degrees are invited to submit their application. Please send your complete application including your CV, your school and university grades, your publications, and letters of reference to:
