Regulation of hematopoietic stem cells by the niche (Dresden)

The group Regeneration in Hematopoiesis in the Institute for Immunology at the Technical University Dresden focuses on fundamental aspects of hematopoietic regeneration and stem cells in the embryo and adult mouse.

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doc, who will contribute to the analysis of the regulation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) by niche cells, but also determine effects of hematopoietic cells on niche cell responses to stress. The Post-doc will perform state-of-the art transplantation experiments, using unique mouse models exclusively available to our working group, and determine the quality of the interaction between distinct niche cell types and HSCs and early hematopoietic progenitor cells. In addition, the scientist will perform a multiplexed screen on novel genes involved in functional regulation of HSCs as determined by bioinformatics integration of next generation sequencing data and a newly generated INTERACTOME data base. Finally, novel targets will be assessed for their functional relevance in vitro and in vivo. The applicant should have experience in molecular biology (cloning, PCR), flow cytometry, and animal handling and experimentation (mouse). Experienc!
e in histological techniques is also beneficial. The operating language of the group is English.
