A PhD position is available at the Institute for Medical Microbiology
and Hygiene, Uniklinikum Freiburg (TVL-E13/65%, starting July 2013 or later). The project is funded by the Else-KrÃķner-Fresenius-Stiftung and focuses on the role of neutrophil granulocytes in bacterial defense and in inflammatory disease in the context of infections with Chlamydia trachomatis, an important human pathogen. Experimental studies will comprise a variety of cell biological, molecular biological and immunological methods in vitro and in vivo in a mouse model of chlamydial infection.
We are looking for a qualified and motivated candidate, preferentially with first experience in infection biology/ immunology. The willingness to work with S2 organisms, both in vitro and in a mouse model in vivo, is a prerequisite.
We offer an interdisciplinary research environment in a multinational group specializing on Chlamydia as well as on the interplay of apoptosis and immunity.
