the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work with Professor Chris
Abell at the Department of Chemistry, on using fragment based approaches to discover small
molecules that disrupt protein-protein interactions. The research is part of a multidisciplinary
initiative between the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry (Prof Tom Blundell and Dr
Marko Hyvonen) and the Hutchison/MRC Research Centre (Prof Ashok Venkitaraman and Dr
Grahame McKenzie) at the University of Cambridge.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in organic chemistry. Proven expertise in
biological chemistry is essential. Expertise in synthetic chemistry, and relevant post-doctoral
or industrial experience in drug discovery would be advantageous. Applicants will be expected
to work closely and interactively with colleagues in different disciplines, to have good
communications skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

The position is available immediately. Applications should include a CV, publications list,
contact details for three professional referees, and a completed form CHRIS/6 Parts I and III
