A key question in biology is how individual cells within a multicellular organisms display different gene expression patterns despite harboring identical genomes. Research in our group focuses on epigenetic mechanisms underlying the correct temporal and spatial control of gene activity during differentiation of stem cells. We employ a combination of cell biological, biochemical and genome wide molecular approaches to uncover the contribution of chromatin organization to pluripotency and cell lineage commitment. This question remains a formidable challenge in an exciting field with excellent research and career development opportunities. Our group at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Tumor Research, University of Marburg, Germany is looking for motivated and ambitious graduate student candidates. We offer a dynamic and open lab environment within a charming, lively college town.

Applicants require a Master Degree or Diplom in Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology (or similar subjects) and a research background, with previous lab experience. Please send your CV, cover letter and two letters of recommendation to mermoud@imt.uni-marburg.de
