The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) is an institute of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). It has a global vision that seeks to use genomic sciences to improve public health and public prosperity. Established in 2001 as a centre for genomic discovery, the GIS will pursue the integration of technology, genetics and biology towards the goal of individualized medicine.

The key research areas at the GIS include Systems Biology, Stem Cell & Developmental Biology, Cancer Biology & Pharmacology, Human Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Genomic Technologies, and Computational & Mathematical Biology. The genomics infrastructure at the GIS is utilized to train new scientific talent, to function as a bridge for academic and industrial research, and to explore scientific questions of high impact.

We are inviting applications for post-doctoral research fellow positions in a human genetics group at the Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS). Successful candidates will join a research program that is currently working on several projects aiming to understand the genetic basis of diverse complex diseases and related phenotypes, such as heart failure, adverse drug reaction and IgA nephropathy as few examples (http://www.gis.a-star.edu.sg/internet/site/investigator/investigator.php?user_id=17). These projects are supported either as a part of Singapore’s flagship programs on Translational & Clinical Research or by intramural research funding from the Biomedical Research Council, A*STAR. Theses positions are tenable for 3 years and can be extended after successful performance evaluation.

Successful candidates must be highly motivated with a PhD from a reputable university and a strong background in human genetics. Candidates must be familiar with modern methodologies for genetic studies, such as genome-wide association and linkage analysis, imputation, and the analysis of whole genome or exome sequencing data. Experience in the field of integrative genomics as well as wet laboratory techniques in NGS sequencing analysis will be an advantage.

Requirements:

• PhD degree in Human Genetics or Statistical Genetics
• Proven track record by previous publications in respectable peer-reviewed journals
• Good experience with working on multiple genomics platforms (e.g. GWAS, NGS)
• Strong analytical skills and experience in applied statistical genetics
• Aptitude for and experience of collaborative research
• Excellent communication and writing skills.

Interested candidates should send CV, three recommendation letters and a statement of research to Dr. Jianjun Liu at liuj3@gis.a-star.edu.sg.
