The Department of Membrane Biophysics at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen Germany is offering one PhD Position for a project entitled “Spatiotemporal dynamics of GPCR signaling” funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) Research Center for Nanoscale Microscopy and Molecular Physiology of the Brain (CNMPB).

Our current research focuses on the development and utilization of advanced optical techniques (FRET, TIRF, FCS…) and molecular biosensors to quantify the spatiotemporal dynamics of protein-protein interaction. We are using these tools to study G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) mediated signaling pathways and to develop computational models to characterize these interaction networks.

Eligible candidates should have:
• M.Sc./Diploma (or equivalent) in Biology, Physics, or a related science/engineering discipline
• Good knowledge of molecular and cellular biology and/or biophysics
• Experience with fluorescence microscopy
• Good written and verbal command of the English language
The successful candidate will work on a research project funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) Research Center for Nanoscale Microscopy and Molecular Physiology of the Brain (CNMPB) and benefit from working in the dynamic and international environment provided by the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and the larger collaborative structure of the Göttingen Research Campus. The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply.
