2 years postdoctoral position in molecular and cellular biology of cancer : MONTPELLIER, France

A 2 years postdoctoral position is available immediately in the team “tyrosine kinase signaling and oncogenesis”, of the CNRS institute in Montpellier, South of France.
Tyrosine kinases are frequently deregulated in human cancer and mediate signals that converge on critical downstream cell-survival/cell-growth effectors like mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK). Yet, the cancer process also relies on non-cell autonomous signaling. Indeed, the microenvironment appears to be of crucial importance for primary tumor growth as well as metastasis formation. The molecular mechanisms that govern and integrate the multiple facets of cis and trans-cellular signaling in cancer remain an enigma and current challenge for biologists. The research project intends to investigate at the molecular and cellular level, the role of specific regulators of vesicular trafficking in the cell automonous and non-autonomous oncogenic signaling induced by Tyrosine Kinases, with a specific focus on invasiveness and metastatic potential of human colorectal cancer cells. This project will be addressed by a combination of quantitative phosphoproteomic, fluorescence microscopy and classical biochemical methods. The ultimate goal of this study is to evaluate and situate these vesicular trafficking processes in cell autonomous and non-cell autonomous signaling induced by TK during cancer progression, and to clarify whether it represents an interesting biomarker for human cancer. This project is in a close collaboration with the team “spatio-temporal regulation of cell signaling” headed by Dr P. Zimmermann at the Cancer research institute in Marseille, south of France.
The applicants should have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a excellent experience in molecular and cellular biology. A very good expertise in proteomics, vesicular trafficking and/or cancer cell biology is a plus. The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a research team, and show high motivation.
To apply for this position, please send your curriculum vitae and letter of motivation with the
names of 3 references to Serge Roche (serge.roche@crbm.cnrs.fr), before the end of January 2014.
