Ph.D.-Student in molecular neuroscience/ molecular cell biology at the University of Bonn (Sigmund-Freud-Str. 25, 53105 Bonn, Germany)
PhD student position (TVL13/50%) starting from beginning of March 2014 (or later) is available to work on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). The project is focussed to understand the role of post-translational modifications of proteins in pathophysiological processes in AD and also to identify the underlying regulatory mechanisms (recent publications: Kumar S et al., EMBO Journal, (PMID:21527912); Kumar S and Walter J., Aging, (PMID:21869458); Walter J and van Echten-Deckert G. Mol. Neurodegener. (PMID:24148205) Kumar S et al., J Biol. Chem., (PMID:22267728); Kumar S et al., Acta Neuropathologica, (PMID:23525537).
Applicants should hold a Diploma or MSc degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, or a similar degree. We seek highly motivated candidates with strong background in molecular cell and/or neurobiology biology and protein biochemistry. Experience with mice and/or Drosophila, as well as knowledge on neurodegenerative processes would be an asset. A good command of the English language and a high personal motivation to excel in science are required. We offer to work in a young and motivated team in the laboratory of ‘Molecular Cell Biology’ within the Neurocenter of Bonn University.
