PhD Student Position in Retinal Neovascularisation (Dresden)


A PhD student position in retinal neovascularization is available at the Ophthalmology department of the university clinic of the TU Dresden, in Dresden, Germany.  The position is in a newly formed group studying the pathophysiology of the retinal vasoproliferative diseases diabetic retinopathy (DR) and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), and specifically the interactions of the retinal endothelial cells with the pericytes and neuronal cells in the context of these diseases. By working on ongoing and developing projects, the PhD Student will have the opportunity to undertake studies that include the use of animal models (ROP) and in vitro cell culture systems that simulate the proliferative retinopathies (Blood. 2010;116:4395-403; Nat Med. 2009;15:553-8). The position is available immediately.  A background in molecular and cell biology is advantageous. Previous experience with cell culture is advantageous and an interest in working with mice is required.  Interested individua!
