SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

PhD Student position (Würzburg)

The Department of Biotechnology and Biophysics at the University of Würzburg is looking for a

PhD Student (TV-L 13, 50 %)

Optogenetics is a new method experiencing increasing interest in Neurobiology and Biophysics. Recently we developed a gene tandem cassette allowing for stoichiometric expression of two different rhodopsins in mammalian cells. By that advantages of two proteins can be combined in one artificial tandem protein.

The successful applicant will work in a project carried out in cooperation with the Max-Planck-Institute of Biophysics in Frankfurt a. M., Germany. We aim to analyze new generation tandem proteins in mammalian cells by combining electrophysiology and state-to-the-art fluorescence imaging.

Requirements:

•       Very good knowledge in at least one of the fields electrophysiology, biochemistry, biophysics, optogenetics, or molecular biology

•       Master or Diploma in Biology, Biochemistry, Physics or a related discipline, with good to very good academic grade.

•       Interest in interdisciplinary research.

•       Good knowledge in spoken and written English

The policy of the University of Würzburg is to create equal opportunities for women and men. In order to achieve this target, applications from suitably qualified women are particularly welcome. Preference will be given to handicapped applicants with equal qualifications.

Please send your electronic application and corresponding supporting documents (CV, certificates, credentials) to the address below, not later than 28th February 2014.
