PhD studentship (3/4) in materials science of protein nanofibers (Jena, Germany)

At the Chair of Materials Science, Otto Schott Institute for Materials Research (OSIM), Faculty of Physics and Astronomy at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany the following position is available:

PhD studentship (3/4) in materials science of protein nanofibers

Qualification requirements:
• university degree (MSc or equivalent)) in physics, chemistry, biology or materials science
• knowledge and skills in experimental materials science in one or more of the flowing areas: proteins, biomaterials, polymers, composites, and materials structure and properties, interfaces, microscopy methods
• good knowledge of German and / or English

Main working tasks include:
• creation of new protein-based materials and their structure-property investigation using AFM, TEM, SEM, XPS, and optical methods.
• preparation of scientific publications, participation in the management and grant applications for projects support
• participation in the delivery of courses in the degree program of Materials Science (labs, seminars, lectures, tutorials) for BSc, MSc candidates.

The Friedrich Schiller University is located in the beautiful heart of Germany in the attractive city of science Jena. The Chair of Materials Science focuses on the timely research areas bio-inspired materials, nanomaterials and materials interfaces.

The salary is depending on research experience and is according to 13 TV-L.
