Research Associate: Neuro-glial interactions (2 posts)
The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £32,699 – £39,523 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for two Research Associate (postdoctoral) positions to study the mechanisms of neuro-glial interactions in the central nervous system. The successful applicant will apply optical, MRI, electrophysiological and biosensor recordings in the in vivo preparations. The project is based in the laboratory of Professor Alexander Gourine at the Research Department of Neuroscience, Physiology and Pharmacology (NPP), University College London.
Both positions are funded until 31 August 2016 in the first instance and are available now.
The successful applicant will have a PhD (or close to being awarded a PhD) in Physiology/Neuroscience, a proven track record in using in vivo models in conjunction with optical or MRI imaging and/or electrophysiology, and a keen interest in understanding the mechanisms and functional significance of neuro-glial interactions. Knowledge of neurovascular coupling, astroglial calcium signalling, cell metabolism, and previous experience in in vivo physiology, multiphoton microscopy/digital fluorescence imaging, fMRI or biosensor technology are essential.
