SCIENCE-JOBS-DE

Postdoctoral position (Halle)

Leibniz-Institute of Plant Biochemistry (IPB) invites applications for a

Postdoctoral position

Our Research aims at understanding the mechanisms of ubiquitination (aka. ubiquitylation) and its roles in immunity. Ubiquitination is a posttranslational modification that determines a novel fate of the modified target protein. Ubiquitination is involved in all aspects of cellular life and its staggering complexity is paralleled by the significance of its functions in molecular processes.

Organisms need to carefully gage the intensity of immune responses in order to avoid metabolic penalties or cellular damage. Our group defined a group of E3 ligases as negative regulators of immunity in Arabidopsis, which play a key role in the attenuation of stress signaling. We are looking for a highly motivated new team member interested in elucidating the molecular mechanisms of ubiquitination mediated by U-box type E3 ubiquitin ligases.

The successful applicant will conduct experiments using a wide range of methods in biochemistry and cell biology. The candidate should have a demonstrated record of achievement in academia or industry, and an eagerness to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, international team. Applicants should hold university degree in biology or biochemistry (Ph.D.) and have good proficiency in English. Experience in protein biochemistry and cell biology is a plus.

We offer a stimulating scientific environment in a young lab with state of the art equipment, as well as, an international and collaborative research team.

The position is a three year appointment funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) with a contract according to the German Public Sector Agreement (TV-L; 65%).

The position is open until filled, but we will begin to select applicants for interview from July 15th 2014. Applicants should provide a CV, including the names and contact details of two or more referees, and a covering letter of no more than one side of A4 addressing the selection criteria and motivation. Please send your application (cover letter, CV, transcripts, and names of contacts of two references) as a single pdf file to:
