The German Diabetes Research Center DZD is establishing a German-French Diabetes Academy together with leading French diabetes research institutes.

The German Diabetes Center (DDZ) is partner of the DZD. In close cooperation with the Institute Pasteur, Lille, France DDZ is working on the scientific project „Liver energy metabolism and bile acid signaling in humans“. The project will explore the interaction between cellular signaling events via FXR and LXR and the regulation of mitochondrial function in hepatocytes and in livers of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or type 2 diabetes. The respective roles of AMPK and ROS will be studied in cell cultures and isolated cells. Within the close interaction between the German and French partners, intensive personal and scientific exchange between the labs will be undertaken.

We are currently seeking for a highly-motivated scientist (MD or PhD in life sciences such as molecular biology or biochemistry) with a strong interest in metabolic research including diabetes. We offer an ambitious translational research environment with state-of-the-art research facilities.

This postdoc position is immediately available and initially limited to 1 year. Salary is based on qualification and experience according to TV-L.
