PhD student - regulation of metabolism and inflammation in innate immune cells (Frankfurt)

The Institute of Biochemistry I – Pathobiochemistry (Director: Prof. B. Brüne), Faculty of Medicine, Goethe-University Frankfurt, Germany offers a PhD student position (3 years). The Institute of Biochemistry I provides excellent facilities to conduct interdisciplinary research in biochemistry and molecular biology of cell signaling focusing on the roles of innate immune cells in the pathobiochemistry of cancer and metabolic disease. The successful candidate will be part of a research team, conducting work in the area of macrophage biology, with particular focus on AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and the control of metabolism and inflammation.  Starting date: flexible, earliest on November 1st 2014.
We are looking for creative and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for basic biomedical research. Candidates must have prior experience in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology or immunology. The lab is located in a highly interdisciplinary research environment that shares a collaborative and international culture. The PhD student will have the opportunity to enroll in the international graduate program at Goethe University. Working language is English.
